Labcorp is hiring a Medical Secretary/Administrative Specialist to provide support to the team.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Work Location: Lowell MA

  • Processes all data through computer system for Surgical Pathology and Cytology reports, provides secretarial support pathologists and histology labs. Performs other secretarial duties as required.
  • Provides client services via telephone and in person in the areas of pathology.
  • Provides information to clients via reporting routines in EPIC, generates and distributes reports to appropriate patient care areas, faxes reports and gives verbal results as necessary.
  • Prepares, distributes slides and pathology reports for mailing upon request for outside consultations or further testing in a timely manner. Maintains records and billing information to monitor return of all materials or specimens. Enters and documents critical information related to the EPIC system into the appropriate computer data section.
  • Prepares, documents, and tracks slide/block requests and send out testing.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and distribution of daily pathologist assignments and on call schedules and sends out notification of any last-minute changes
  • Manages incoming and outgoing mail and assists Pathology Manager as needed.
  • Responsible for accessioning incoming slides
  • Establishes independent work plan and prioritizes using established policy, procedure and protocol to ensure timely completion of assigned work. Expected to seek supervision regarding issues which do not either have a clear precedent or protocol.
  • Works closely with other staff in a collaborative team environment, interactions may include Hallmark hospital staff, patients and their family members and members of the community.
  • As assigned by Operations Manager.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma required
  • Additional schooling equivalent to two years of college or business school highly preferred.
  • 1-3 years' experience in a Clinical/Pathology Laboratory highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and with proven computer and secretarial/transcription skills highly preferred.
  • Strong reading, writing and communication skills
  • Must be detail orientated.
  • Able to work independently with a minimum of supervision in routine matters.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
