The Role
knowledge and experience of managing the data stored on disk and tape for mainframe systems, design, implement and support. The products that for deployment, implementation and migration are such as DFSMS-DSS, DFSMS-HSM, DFSMS-DFP, DFSMS-RMM, GDPS, TDMF, SRS, IDCAMS, and the IBM data utilities. Also provide support for data backup and recovery for disaster recovery and high availability.

The Expertise You Have and The Skills You Bring
- Must have 10-12 years of progressive experience in mainframe technical support and at least 8-12 years in zOS mainframe support for the operating system in a system programming role.
- Basic technology and infrastructures: Storage systems, Tools, and their interfaces with z/OS, Data structures, databases, files, and I/O
- Business and IT functional knowledge, collaboration, and relationship management
- IT Strategy formulation, IT/Storage trends and new technologies
- Change management, Incident management, Problem management, Vendor relationship and partnership
- Advanced IBM zOS Mainframe Storage skills required.
- zOS replication solutions: GDPS, Global Mirror, XRC, Global Copy, PPRC, Flash Copy, Hyperswap
- Advanced understanding of Storage Administrator software tools: DTS ACC/SRC, DFDSS, DFHSM, FDR PAS, Extended Addressing Volumes, Control-M, Dino T-REX/HSM Adminisaurus/RTD (a plus)
- Complete understanding of VSAM Record Level Sharing (RLS) capabilities and applications
- Proficiency in IDCAMS use access method services for system master and user catalogs.
- Understand the various types of VSAM structures, support for VSAM allocation and tuning.
- Advanced understanding of ICF Catalog structure, RLS enabled catalogs, and an ability to execute a Forward Catalog Recovery procedure in a live environment.
- Advanced understanding of IBM DS8K Storage platforms, IBM TS7700 family of Virtual Tape subsystems
- Understanding of emerging technologies such as SafeGuarded Copy, Pervasive Encryption, Remote Pair Flash Copy
- Possess expert problem-solving and debugging skills, and support incident triage (critical)
- Having experience in DS8000 / FS9000 storage migration
