The Role

Kyndryl is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior AWS Architect with expertise in application modernization, cloud migration, and modernization initiatives to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in guiding our clients through their cloud transformation journeys by designing and implementing AWS-based architectures that support scalability, performance, and cost-efficiency. This role demands strong technical leadership, a deep understanding of AWS services, and hands-on experience with modernizing legacy applications and orchestrating complex cloud migrations.

In this role, you will lead the design and architecture of cloud solutions on AWS, focusing on application modernization, re-platforming, and migration strategies. You will identify and implement strategies for rearchitecting, refactoring, or rebuilding legacy applications to optimize performance and cloud-native capabilities. Additionally, you will plan, design, and execute end-to-end cloud migration projects, including workload assessment, dependency mapping, migration strategy, and implementation.

As a Senior AWS Architect, you will provide technical direction and leadership to project teams, ensuring alignment with best practices and business objectives. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand requirements, define project scope, and develop roadmaps for successful modernization and migration projects. Your responsibilities will also include developing comprehensive architectural solutions that utilize AWS services like EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, EKS, and more, ensuring alignment with best practices and business needs.

Furthermore, you will implement strategies to optimize performance, scalability, security, and cost of AWS environments. Ensuring all cloud solutions comply with industry standards and security guidelines, you will manage risks associated with cloud adoption. You will also develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using tools like AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, and Ansible, and support CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment processes. Lastly, you will develop and maintain architectural documentation, guidelines, and training materials for the team and stakeholders.

Who You Are

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in cloud architecture, with at least 5+ years on AWS.
  • Proven experience in modernizing legacy applications, with a focus on re-platforming, refactoring, and adopting microservices or serverless architectures.
  • Extensive experience leading large-scale migration projects to AWS, with expertise in migration tools and methodologies (e.g., AWS Migration Hub, AWS DMS, CloudEndure).
  • Strong proficiency in AWS services (EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, EKS, IAM, VPC, etc.) and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and Ansible.
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, CodePipeline).
  • Solid understanding of cloud security, governance, and compliance standards, including experience with IAM policies, role-based access controls, and data protection.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional) or equivalent advanced AWS certification is highly preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration tools (EKS, ECS).
  • Familiarity with serverless computing and microservices architectures.
  • Knowledge of multi-cloud or hybrid cloud strategies.
