The Role
We are seeking a Mainframe DevOps Engineer who possesses deep expertise in both mainframe and cloud-native DevOps practices. This role requires a unique blend of technical proficiency and client-facing consulting skills to drive modernization initiatives and promote our consulting services.
Key Responsibilities
- Mainframe Modernization: Lead the transformation of mainframe environments by implementing DevOps or DevSecOps practices, optimizing existing applications, data, and infrastructure to enhance efficiency and align with hybrid cloud strategies.
- Cloud-Native DevOps: Develop and implement cloud-native DevOps strategies using platforms such as AWS, leveraging Kyndryl's expertise in designing, running, and managing modern technology infrastructures.
- Client Engagement: Collaborate directly with clients to assess their DevOps maturity, design scalable solutions, and deliver impactful transformations. Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Business Development: Support pre-sales and business development efforts by identifying opportunities for our consulting services and articulating the value of our solutions to potential clients.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and methodologies to continually enhance our consulting capabilities and deliver innovative solutions to our clients.

Required Skills and Expertise
Technical Expertise
- Mainframe Proficiency: Extensive experience (5+ years) with mainframe technologies such as z/OS, COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS
- DevOps Practices: Strong understanding of DevOps methodologies, including CI/CD pipelines, automation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Strong experience with tools like Jenkins, GitLab Runners, Github Actions etc.
- Cloud Platforms: Proficiency with cloud platforms, particularly AWS and Azure, and experience integrating mainframe workloads into cloud environments.
Consulting Skills
- Client Interaction: Proven ability to engage with clients, understand their business needs, and provide tailored solutions.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and implement improvements effectively.
Preferred Skills and Expertise
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in mainframe technologies, DevOps practices, or cloud platforms.
- Industry Experience: 5+ years' experience in industries where mainframe DevOps is critical, such as financial services, healthcare, or government sectors.

Compensation
The compensation range for the position in the U.S. is $107,400 to $204,000 based on a full-time schedule. Your actual compensation may vary depending on your geography, job-related skills and experience. For part time roles, the compensation will be adjusted appropriately. The pay or salary range will not be below any applicable state, city or local minimum wage requirement.
There is a different appliable compensation range for the following work locations:
California: $118,200 to $244,920
Colorado: $107,400 to $204,000
New York City: $128,880 to $244,920
Washington: $118,200 to $224,520
Washington DC: $118,200 to $224,520
This position will be eligible for Kyndryl's discretionary annual bonus program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Kyndryl's applicable plans. You may also receive a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, vision and dental coverage, disability, retirement benefits, paid leave, and paid time off. Note: If this is a sales commission eligible role, you will be eligible to participate in a sales commission plan in lieu of the annual discretionary bonus program.
