The Role
As a System Administrator at Kyndryl, you'll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You'll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients - which means some of the biggest in the world.
There's never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You'll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You'll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
- Performed by technical professionals responsible for the physical and technical aspects of a database systems.
- Set up and maintain DB2 subsystems, data sharing groups, and buffer pools.
- Monitor and manage tablespaces, indexes, partitions, and storage allocation.
- Tune DB2 memory structures, buffer pools, and access paths for efficiency.
- Diagnose and resolve DB2 performance issues, locking conflicts, and deadlocks.
- Work closely with application development teams to provide database support.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- 5+ years of experience as a DB2 DBA on mainframe (z/OS) environments.
- Monitor DB2 Dialogue/Instant Notification logs for anomalies and alerts.
- Perform real-time monitoring of transaction logs to ensure data integrity and system stability.
- Track and manage archive log destinations to avoid storage issues and performance degradation.
- Monitor live production systems owned by DB2 databases, ensuring optimal availability and performance.
- Monitor and maintain DB2 tablespaces, ensuring proper allocation, fragmentation control, and optimization.
- Start up and shut down DB2 instances as per operational and maintenance requirements.
- Activate and deactivate DB2 instances based on business and operational needs.
- Quiesce and Unquiesce databases and tablespaces to perform maintenance tasks without disrupting critical operations.
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
- Proficiency in DB2 monitoring, log management, and system health checks.
- Experience in instance management (start/stop, activate/deactivate, quiesce/unquiesce).
- Strong understanding of tablespace management and database performance tuning.
- Ability to analyze and interpret DB2 logs, alerts, and notification messages.
- Hands-on experience in capacity planning and reporting.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Good communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
