The Role
Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) specializing in the Azure data platform are the key link between Kyndryl and our clients. You're in a technical leadership role, uniting and guiding stakeholders from clients, governance, and project executives to delivery and sometimes even the vendors who work with the client. You'll be there from the start of a project - understanding what's needed and figuring out the best technical solution. And you'll be there at the finish, delivering the right product on time and within budget.

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) specializing in the Azure data platform, you'll draw upon the full breadth of your talent and experience. This is a technical leadership role, so we want you to bring your vision, knowledge, and leadership to each project. To the client, you're the subject matter expert - consulting early, gathering inputs, understanding what they need from our solution. You define what Kyndryl can do to meet this solution. You design the best solution for the job. And finally, you're the tech leader for implementation.
As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) specializing in the Azure data platform, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of our data services hosted on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. Leveraging your strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IAC), you will design, implement, and maintain scalable and resilient architectures that power our data solutions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence, automate workflows, and optimize service delivery, ultimately enabling our customers to derive maximum value from their data
Design, implement, and maintain highly available and scalable architectures for data services on the Azure platform, utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IAC) principles and tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or BICEP. Develop and implement robust Native automation solutions to streamline provisioning, deployment, monitoring, and incident response processes, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing manual intervention.Establish and maintain comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems to detect performance issues, anomalies, and potential failures in real-time, enabling proactive resolution and minimizing service disruptions.
Collaborate with Azure service teams to optimize resource utilization, improve performance, and ensure cost-effectiveness across data solutions, leveraging Azure best practices and tools.Drive continuous improvement initiatives through post-incident analysis, root cause identification, and implementation of preventive measures to enhance system reliability and stability.Champion security best practices and compliance requirements within Azure data services, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.Act as a subject matter expert and provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration.

Required Technical and Professional Experience:
- Minimum 7+ years of overall IT experience with at least 3-5 years in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or related roles.
- Proven experience in designing and maintaining highly available, scalable, and resilient architectures for data platforms on Microsoft Azure.
- Extensive knowledge of Azure core services, including Azure Network components, Azure Monitor, and Azure Policies.
- Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools such as BICEP, PowerShell, ARM templates, and/or Terraform.
- Hands-on experience in building, maintaining, and troubleshooting Azure DevOps pipelines.
- Good analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes of complex system issues.
- Experience with Azure Data Services, including Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, and Azure Databricks.
- Sound understanding of cloud-native technologies and microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience:
- Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Microsoft Azure certifications, such as Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, or Azure DevOps Engineer, are a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
