About The Role
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to take charge of our accounting operations and bring a new level of excitement to our financial processes. As the “mastermind” behind our strategy and delivery, you’ll have the unique opportunity to shape our day-to-day operations, month-end close, financial reporting, and lead our financial statement audits.
You’ll also be responsible for meeting deadlines and orchestrating a wide range of accounting activities, all aimed at maintaining a flawless general ledger and ensuring accurate and timely financial statements. Your expertise will be crucial in preparing technical accounting policies that keep us at the cutting edge of financial practices.
Lastly, you’ll be leading the team who handles customer billing and accounts payable activities. Your guidance and mentorship will empower them to excel in their roles and contribute to the overall success of our organization. In this role, you'll have the autonomy to innovate, the opportunity to lead, and the satisfaction of delivering exceptional results.
We have a strong preference to hire this role in the New York Metropolitan Area (NY, New Jersey, CT).
Your Responsibilities Include
Owning the full cycle general ledger monthly close process and related activities to ensure all accounts are US GAAP compliant. Including preparation of financial statements and management reporting.
Oversee team members who are responsible for day to day activities for customer billing operations and accounts payable.
Draft and implement key policies and procedures and drive implementation and training of new accounting standards.
Collaborate cross-functionally to build streamlined and scalable processes and achieve maximum efficiency to support growth.
Lead all financial statement audit-related efforts, provide pragmatic solutions and alternatives to challenging audit requests and inquiries.
Maintain the relationship with external tax consultants to ensure corporate tax and sales tax compliance.
Participate in key strategic initiatives and assist with other ad hoc projects.
Build and manage a high performing team that maintains a strong client service focus and culture.
Plan and define performance goals with senior financial management to set overall and team-level performance measures and goals.
Foster a client service culture and instill a work ethic that includes collaboration
Meet deadlines in line with the company's policies and procedures.
May involve handling sensitive personal data
Your Qualities
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA required.
10-15+ years of relevant work experience driving the corporate accounting policies and processes. Ideally in the SaaS industry and with Big 4 and public company experience (4+ years at a Big 4 public accounting firm at the Manager+ level).
Strong technical accounting background with a thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
Problem solving, project management and decision-making capacity in a dynamic environment.
Experience leading successful system implementations is a plus.
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Able to work effectively with all levels of the organization, from staff to executives, and manage relationships with external parties.
Previous experience in a SaaS startup environment, high-growth, fast-paced environment with the ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
Strong organizational and management skills.
