JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Transportation Department. Demonstrate the company's leadership model behaviors and the core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the daily operation of the department to insure on time delivery to the stores
  • Responsible to promote and insure all members practice safety in the workplace and on the road
  • Responsible for driver schedules, requests for days off
  • Responsible for providing accurate timely information with regard to driver timecards
  • Work with stores and drivers to reduce dwell time and improve overall performance
  • Handle Union issues that arise
  • Handle special projects or take over for the Manager in the event of absence
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provides feedback to direct reports
  • Ability to work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner

Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues
    Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation


  • QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum
    • Good oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to read, write and speak English
    • Possess good phone etiquette
    • Possess good public relation skills
    • Detail oriented/well organized.
    • Knowledge of word processing software
    • Knowledge of DMV rules and regulations a plus
    • DOT experience desirable
    • Willing to work at other site locations where applicable
    • Ability to work varied shifts/varied hours/varied days


    Desired
    • Supervisory/managerial experience within a distribution/logistics environment
    • Expertise in Shipping, Receiving and Inventory in addition to require Transportation expertise
    • Experience within a food distribution environment preferred
    • Knowledge/understanding of DOT regulations and requirements
