JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for site development, architectural design, and construction activities for all food retailing, logistics, manufacturing (as requested) and data center facilities. Responsible for cost effective oversight on creating and maintaining corporate standards for regional construction standards, including the selection and management of Architectural and Engineering firms, exterior design development, zoning and permitting strategies, construction standards and specifications. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for cost effective oversight on creating and maintaining corporate standards for site development including civil engineering documents, site development agreements, and federal requirements for storm water pollution prevention plans, ADA, and refrigerant compliance.
  • Responsible for oversight of capital expenditures including cost estimates, project schedules, contract administration (request for information, change order process, and cost control), direct-buy program for the purchase of construction materials and project documentation with the intent of providing a cost competitive program while addressing recurring problems that delay schedules and/or impact cost.
  • Oversee tools for project management, and training means and methods for processes, systems and coordination with internal partners as business needs prompt or change.
  • Recruit, train and develop effective teams that produce leaders for succession planning.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.
  • Represent regional construction department and provide support to effectively implement Sales and Operations initiatives for new programs and formats.
  • Collaborate with capital management, senior executives, and division leaders to establish, regularly review, advise the strategic capital plan.
  • Review project capital requests for completeness, efficacy, and risk.
  • Steer Sourcing partners to ensure procurement strategies align with current, eminent, and future capital project needs, including review of proposed commodities for bidding, involved vendors, and means for seeking pricing and purchase.
  • Conduct performance evaluation on approved contractors, architects, and engineers at conclusion of each project updating vendor pre-qualified status based upon evaluation as needed.
  • Participate in review and advise on proposed fixtures and equipment, such that approval results in efficient addition to design archive and processes, and correct representation in purchasing catalog and processes.
  • Regular review with division executives, ensuring team performance is serving aligned priorities for the respective capital plans.
  • Anticipate and mitigate forces within the construction market that challenge project cost limits; lever market forces that provide advantageous cost bases, as available.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • MBA or equivalent financial training.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction project management software, spreadsheets, word-processing, and database programs.
  • Detailed knowledge of architectural and construction processes and practices with 10 to 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven leadership and management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Extensive experience in Construction Management, Energy, Maintenance and Planning.
  • Communicate effectively with Senior Management.
  • Ability to travel independently. (60%)


Desired Previous Job Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Construction and project management and design
  • Maintenance and energy experience
  • Experience with team and department organization and building.
