JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for the day-to-day operation effectiveness of a retail division's movement of product, or "supply chain" and for the dedicated Transportation Center supporting the retail division. Understand total distribution, transportation and store operations, with an emphasis on carrier supply chain programs to provide lower cost of product. Accountable for supporting and maintaining distribution center's transportation and warehouse financial objectives. Interaction with the distribution senior management and various dedicated freight carriers in support of marketing and sales initiatives. Drive actions that assist the divisions in running great stores. Ensure that the service level targets are met, as well as providing rapid response and maintaining a high store satisfaction level. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Model Customer 1st behavior; deliver and encourage other associates to deliver excellent customer service
  • Implement appropriate best practices, establish operational procedures, identify and address operational problems in a timely fashion
  • Support and achieve corporate goals of a Customer 1st environment
  • Use available technology to ensure the efficient and accurate transportation (shipping & receiving) processes
  • Develop, maintain and encourage three-way communication from the stores, distribution staff and transportation providers
  • Organize the transportation infrastructure to achieve maximum cube utilization, achieve ideal service goals, network freight and secure backhaul opportunities in order to streamline supply chain costs
  • Manage accounting accuracy of freight invoices and service reports
  • Maintain compliance with all governmental and Department of Transportation regulations and requirements
  • Establish an environment that provides safe working conditions
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum
  • Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of logistics experience with an emphasis on transportation or combination of relevant education and experience
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Ability to pass a drug test
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently or in groups/teams
  • Ability to travel independently
  • Excellent analytical costing and communication skills
  • Strong business acumen with appropriate negotiation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and development of others
  • Knowledge/understanding of Department of Transportation regulations and requirements


Desired
  • Knowledge of company policies, procedures, and organizational structure
  • Experience directing and participating on project teams
