JOB DESCRIPTION

Provide and interpret reports for General Accounting associates and provide detailed support information. Analyze financial reports and procedures, write journal entries, monitor budget variances, and analyze expense accounts for accuracy and appropriate usage. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide management support for the review and analysis of operational expense reporting, including variance to budget reviews and reports of findings to management
- Provide accurate, explainable operational expense results
- Assist with the period closing process, including preparation of journal entries
- Gather data and create appropriate expense variance reporting

- Communicate with management and stores concerning operational expense questions and requests for information
- Research and explain profit and loss variances
- Reconcile balance sheets and communicate changes in conditions affecting balance sheet activity
- Must be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum
- High School Diploma or GED
- Accuracy/attention to detail
- Experience directing and participating on project teams
- Experience with general ledger and inventory accounting
- Ability to organize/prioritze tasks/projects

Desired
- Bachelor's Degree Accounting
- 3+ years of experience in accounting
- Knowledge of Fred Meyer policies, procedures, and organizational structure
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or other database applications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Access
- Familiarity with industry/technical terms and processes
