JOB DESCRIPTION

The Regulatory Reporting Specialist ensures the timely and accurate reporting and payment of taxes. These could include fuel excise, sales, business privilege, prepaid sales and use tax. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • FUEL EXCISE TAX REPORTING
    • Preparation of returns
    • Timely submission of payments to avoid costly penalties and fines
    • Contacting taxing authorities as needed regarding rate changes, error notices, etc.
    • Extensive research and interpretation of tax returns and regulations
    • Review fuel invoices and determine if the appropriate tax has been paid or excess tax needs refunded
    • Assisting in review of returns prepared by other team members
  • SALES TAX REPORTING

  • Assisting in review of returns prepared by other team members
  • ACCOUNT RECONCILIATIONS
    • Reconciliation of applicable general ledger accounts
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.


  • QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum
    • Good understanding of general accounting practices related to reconciliations, debit, credits, taxes, etc.
    • Willingness to be flexible and commit to the hours required to meet department deadlines.
    • Ability to research, interpret complex tax laws and government regulations.
    • Ability to recognize, research, and resolve issues and errors with minimal supervision.
    • Solid independent judgment and decision making skills required.
    • Detail oriented with the ability to multitask in demanding situations and the ability to organize work and follow through to completion.
    • Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal communication, listening skills, tact and diplomacy.
    • Self-motivated and able to perform job responsibilities with a minimum of supervision.
    • Willing to work with others as part of a team committed to our Customer 1st strategy.
    • Physical ability to access all necessary files and supplies and to lift at least 40 pounds.


    Desired
    • Advanced computer skills, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, PDI RMS, PDI Enterprise, IP Switch, Monarch, Zytax and KASH Web applications.
