Overview
The Director, Corporate Tax, plays a vital role in managing and overseeing all aspects of the Konica Minolta Holdings U.S.A., Inc. (HUS) tax operations. HUS was formed to enable the tax consolidation of Konica Minolta Inc. (KMI) North American subsidiaries. The HUS Tax Director's primary responsibility is to contribute to the organization's financial success by implementing effective tax strategies and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations. Reporting directly to the CFO, this autonomous position requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to adapt to changing tax regulations. The Tax Director works closely with the financial management of the organization's several subsidiaries providing tax guidance and assistance.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement tax strategies: Provide strategic direction and guidance on tax planning, ensuring alignment with business objectives, while minimizing tax risks and liabilities.
- Tax compliance: Timely and accurate preparation and filing of all tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, and other required filings, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Manage tax audits and inquiries: Represent the organization during tax audits, coordinate responses to inquiries from tax authorities, and resolve any disputes or issues that may arise.
- Stay updated on tax regulations: Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, assess their impact on the organization, and advise management accordingly to ensure compliance and optimize tax benefits.
- Tax accounting and reporting: Prepare consolidated federal and state income tax provisions along with the required analysis for inter-company transaction eliminations and collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate tax accounting, including the provision for income taxes, deferred taxes, and tax-related financial reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Tax planning and optimization: Identify tax-saving opportunities, such as credits, deductions, and incentives, and develop strategies to optimize the organization's tax position, while maintaining compliance (i.e., R&D Credits & Transfer Pricing)
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders: Work closely with subsidiary finance, legal, and other departments to provide tax advice and support for business initiatives, transactions, and contracts.
- Build relationships with external partners: Interact with external tax advisors, auditors, and government agencies to ensure effective communication, collaboration, and compliance on tax-related matters.
- SOX compliance: Ensure that the tax function, in conjunction with accounting, is compliant with the requirements and procedures established under "JSOX'. This includes maintaining tax internal controls by recommending and documenting tax policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Competencies (Knowledge, skills & abilities)
- Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Proven experience in managing tax audits and effectively resolving tax-related disputes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals in a clear and concise manner.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of tax software (Onesource Income Tax and Tax Provision), SAGE Fixed Asset Accounting software and MS Office applications.
- Solid experience with online tax research tools such as CCH or RIA
- Strong work ethic with proven ability to handle confidential information with tact, diplomacy and discretion.
- Excellent written, communication, and presentation skills to convey complex matters with simplicity and clarity to non-experts across the organization.
- Thrives independently and as part of a team.
- Relies on experience, judgment and strong organizational skills to plan and accomplish goals in a multi-company environment.
- Demonstrated ability to be hands-on, resourceful, detail and results oriented.
Experience, Educational Requirements & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Tax related discipline. Masters in Tax or comparable advanced degree preferred.
- 8-10 years of progressive tax experience within an in-house/corporate environment.
- Experience in compliance, controversy resolution, financial reporting under IFRS/GAAP, planning, transfer pricing, and SOX/controls.
- Deep knowledge of ASC 740 and FIN48 is highly desirable.
