KIPP NYC Public Schools is a non-profit network of 18 free, public charter schools in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. We partner with families and communities to create joyful and rigorous schools in pursuit of a more just world. In 1995 we started our first middle school, KIPP Academy, in the Bronx, with a vision that every child grows up free to create the future they want for themselves and their communities. Today, our network consists of eight elementary schools, nine middle schools, one high school, and KIPP Forward, a comprehensive program to support our students and alumni in choosing and preparing for the educational and career paths that fit their goals and sense of purpose. KIPP NYC currently serves more than 11,000 students and alumni, has a staff of more than 1,000 (11 % of whom are alumni), and continues to grow!

Job Description
Position Overview
The Senior Associate of Marketing and Communications will support the development of all marketing and communications efforts that drive KIPP NYC's brand-building, student enrollment, and staff recruitment goals. Effective marketing, communications, and brand stewardship is critical to KIPP NYC's success in working with our existing and prospective families, students, employees, and community partners. Whether helping parents learn about our schools, ensuring the best teachers join our team, engendering trust from our funders, or supporting our strong brand reputation, the candidate will play a pivotal role in accomplishing our mission. The right candidate will embrace continuous learning and innovation, spend meaningful time in our schools, and relish the challenge of finding ways to work smarter and more efficiently. They will also have a passion for the mission of KIPP NYC to create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students to lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world.
This position requires frequent travel to KIPP NYC schools, located in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Harlem, and Washington Heights.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Content Creation
- Generate media from the schools and regional events to support the development of stories about our students, teachers, and families
- Design and create brand-aligned materials for social media campaigns, student enrollment, teacher recruitment efforts, and school events and signage, using software such as Canva
- Support production of KIPP NYC's annual report and other collateral to support our development efforts and capital campaign
- Design presentation decks and templates for use with external audiences, including our funder community
- Design and create email newsletters and measure the effectiveness of messaging
- Produce and edit video and photo content to support student enrollment, staff recruitment, and fundraising activities
Social Media Management
- Manage and govern KIPP NYC's social media, creating and posting engaging content daily on our platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube)
- Develop and implement social media campaigns that grow our audience and deepen engagement with educators, families, students, alumni, and supporters
- Support schools' management of their individual social media accounts and content
- Measure the effectiveness of our social media content and campaigns to drive deeper engagement
Brand Stewardship
- Organize and catalog media - photos and video - generated by the schools and regional staff in a central repository and ensure current photos are media released
- Identify and implement new trends in digital optimization strategies, tools, and tactics
- Create and manage KIPP NYC's logos, colors, templates, and fonts for use in internal and external communications, as well as with external vendors for uniforms, signage, and swag
Website Management
- Update and maintain website content, including text, images, videos, and downloadable resources. Collaborate with freelancers to support more complicated updates.
- Ensure accuracy, relevance, and consistency of content across all pages and sections of the website.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather and review content updates and revisions, i.e. school and department leads.
- Implement SEO best practices to optimize website content for search engines and improve organic visibility.
- Coordinate with web developers or IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve backend issues, such as server errors or database problems.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years experience in an agency, brand marketing, public relations, or communications setting
- Zest, grit, hope, love, social intelligence, curiosity, gratitude, growth mindset, and a sense of humor
- A passion for and commitment to being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven organizational culture
- Desire to fulfill a career in nonprofit marketing and communications
- Experience with creative design, including software such as Canva
- Experience with media production, including video and photo editing (Canva, iMovie, and FinalCutPro)
- Experience with managing major social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube
- Proficient in Google Suite, including Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides
- Experience with CMS, analytics programs, and digital newsletters, including WordPress, Google Analytics, and MailChimp
- Excellent creative writing skills for marketing materials and communications, including pitch decks, social media posts, and internal emails
- Exceptional project management skills, especially in managing multiple priorities simultaneously while still sweating the small details
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships with stakeholders across functional and organizational lines
- Creative thinker with an ability to quickly implement thoughtful solutions in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual Spanish a plus
Additional Information
Compensation & Benefits:
For the Senior Associate of Marketing & Communications position we offer, $71,070 - $81,370, an excellent benefits package, and an organizational calendar that includes approximately 35 set days of paid vacation (equivalent to 7 work weeks), plus an additional three weeks of paid summer vacation after completion of Year 1.
