KIPP NYC Public Schools is a non-profit network of 18 free, public charter schools in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. We partner with families and communities to create joyful and rigorous schools in pursuit of a more just world. In 1995 we started our first middle school, KIPP Academy, in the Bronx, with a vision that every child grows up free to create the future they want for themselves and their communities. Today, our network consists of eight elementary schools, nine middle schools, one high school, and KIPP Forward, a comprehensive program to support our students and alumni in choosing and preparing for the educational and career paths that fit their goals and sense of purpose. KIPP NYC currently serves more than 11,000 students and alumni, has a staff of more than 1,000 (11 % of whom are alumni), and continues to grow!

Job Description
Position Overview
The KIPP NYC Teaching and Learning project employee role is designed for rising juniors or seniors of all majors interested in hands-on experience in education reform and non-profit management. Interns will join the Teaching & Learning and Student Support Services Team to provide logistics and administrative support throughout the summer. The position will report to the Regional Director of Academic Planning and Operations.
The internship will take place from June 24th to August 16th, 2024.

Qualifications
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Be actively enrolled in a New York State college, university, or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State, attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State*
- Have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university (completion of one year's worth of academic credits over a longer period may qualify part-time students for participation in the program), or be a currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program
- A passion for the mission of KIPP NYC and commitment to being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven organizational culture, with an interest in raising the achievement level of historically under-served children
- Ability to work with a sense of urgency and under pressure
- Strong computer skills are a plus, including a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within established timeframes and demonstrate flexibility
- Strong interpersonal skills that contribute to a collegial working environment and a healthy measure of the character traits we value: zest, grit, self-control, hope, love, social intelligence, gratitude, and a sense of humor.
Additional Information
This is a hourly position for 8-10 weeks during Summer 2024. Compensation for this position is $16/hour.

This role is based in NYC and will require travel to our NYC Office. If you relocate outside of a commutable distance or out of the state of NY, your employment will be subject to review, which may include separation from KIPP NYC.
