Basics

  • The Kendra Scott Internship experience is a 9-week, paid program with the requirement to be in Austin, TX. The internship will begin on June 2nd and end July 31st.
  • This is a full-time, 40/hour a week, in person opportunity. This program will be offered at $17/hour.
  • Please apply to only one internship position that you are most interested in pursuing
  • Sponsorship and Relocation assistance is not currently provided.
  • The deadline for internship applications is November 1, 2024, at 11:59 pm PST
  • Candidates will be informed of their status throughout our process, with final offers being extended in December 2024

Position Overview

We have an exciting opportunity to support the growing design team. The Design Intern will be jointly mentored by 2D and 3D designers and will support both teams to experience the full design process on Fashion and Fine teams. The ideal candidate will deliver high quality 2D and some 3D design mockups and technical design specifications according to brand standards. This role combines the need for proven excellence in design using Photoshop and high attention to detail, accuracy in describing jewelry construction, and efficiency in delivery high quality work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

2D Design

  • Update 2D mockups of existing styles to conform to new design standards
  • Recolor 2D mockups of existing styles as needed for cross functional use
  • Create and update Assortment Sheets showcasing jewelry collections in development and publish to cross functional teams

Technical Design

  • Create technical diagrams in Photoshop and/or Illustrator illustrating construction of jewelry styles and components
  • Create technical specification documents for new styles accurately describing construction and functionality of each style
  • Participate in editing process for technical specification documents with design team and cross functional partners prior to ensure highest level of accuracy
  • Apply problem solving and collaborative skills to develop solutions to jewelry construction challenges
  • Contribute to materials library maintenance and organizational projects

3D Design

  • Assist 3D Designers with technical specification creation: drawing measurements for all displayed view ports in provided spec format after a 3D model has been approved
  • Aid with CAD completion by creating and saving design approved files (PNG, 3DM, STL, JPEG) and record on appropriate documents
  • Support CAD designers in updating PLM Material libraries
  • Shadow 3D CAD Design Prototype Manager at 3D printer
  • Assist with sample archives, organizing and preparing samples for review

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Enrolled in design degree or related program
  • A proven ability to execute with consistent delivery
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite with expertise in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to balance priorities and manage dynamic workload in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive mindset around identifying and offering solutions for potential challenges
  • Must be organized and able to act independently
  • A strong ability to build relationship with co-workers and keep others informed
  • A growth mindset: desire to learn, grow and embrace new ideas
  • A shared appreciation for our 3 core values of Family, Fashion and Philanthropy

Bonus:

  • Knowledge of Rhino/Matrix, KeyShot and ZBrush preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of PLM is preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of jewelry fabrication and manufacturing techniques is preferred, but not required.
  • Keen eye for trend analysis and translating to design concepts and mood boards.
