Civil Engineering Manager

KDM Engineering has a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial minded Civil Engineering Group Manager to serve as lead for the growing Civil Department at KDM. The ideal candidate will help expand civil engineering work with existing clients and develop new clients and business, while managing multiple projects and employees. This individual will be open-minded, innovative, and determined to create similar growth alongside the other business units within the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop plans for business development and report to Engineering Program Manager
  • Manage multiple engineering projects at one time
  • Manage capital projects from concept thru completion
  • Lead project scope, budget preparation, process planning, permitting, execution and control of assigned projects
  • Manage a team of other Project Engineers, Technicians, and CAD Designers
  • Assist in preparation of technical reports and permit applications
  • Use of computer-aided design (AutoCAD) packages to design projects
  • Help determine changes within civil department that include new hires and terminations within the project group
  • Train, support, and develop your team members
  • Assist in updating the design processes and checklists.
  • Review designs and respond to RFI from contractors.
  • Manage and maintain client relationships.

Qualifications

  • PE (Professional Engineer) license in Illinois, and willing to become licensed in other states
  • Minimum BS in Civil Engineering, master's preferred
  • Experience in the Utility Sector
  • Must have experience managing capital projects of at least $5MM
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a civil engineer role
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manager role
  • Computer proficiency
  • Must be open minded, creative, and confident
  • Ability to work independently and on a team

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be willing to comply with all pre-employment screening, including but not limited to, drug testing, reference verification, education and employment verification and background screening
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Possess a valid Driver's License
  • Hybrid work schedule. 3 days in-office (Tuesday, core in-office day) , 2 days work from home (if you have a home office setup)
