As an intern, you will lead the development of a comprehensive market assessment for Kairos Power to enter the process heat industry, which involves supplying high-temperature steam for industrial applications. You will perform market analysis, financial modeling, and feasibility studies to identify and prioritize opportunities that align with Kairos Power’s capabilities. Your work will inform the company’s market entry strategy, addressing infrastructure needs, scalability, and potential economic and technical considerations. This role offers the opportunity to define a strategic growth area for Kairos Power while gaining hands-on experience in market entry strategy, financial analysis, and industrial energy applications.

Responsibilities 

  • Lead the development of a comprehensive market assessment for Kairos Power’s potential entry into the process heat industry.
  • Conduct detailed market analysis, including sizing the process heat market, identifying key industry use cases, and prioritizing applications aligned with Kairos Power’s capabilities.
  • Develop financial models to evaluate the economic viability of entering the process heat market, considering revenues, costs, scalability, and potential risks.
  • Collaborate with Kairos Power’s Strategic Initiatives and Business Development teams to gather insights and refine analyses.
  • Assess infrastructure and technology requirements to support market entry, ensuring alignment with Kairos Power’s operational capabilities.
  • Conduct regulatory and feasibility studies to identify barriers to entry and strategies for navigating compliance requirements.
  • Develop a go-to-market strategy, including recommendations for the timeline, scale, and target customer segments.
  • Tie the market analysis and business case to broader Kairos Power business objectives.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership through clear and compelling presentations.
  • Draft technical and strategic reports summarizing research, analyses, and recommendations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications 

  • Currently a student pursuing BS degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Engineering, or Business Administration. 
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in investment banking, management consulting, private equity, venture capital, or strategic roles in energy, industrials, or related fields preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling, market analysis, and feasibility studies. Experience conducting economic evaluations or business case development is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to distill complex analyses into clear, actionable insights and present findings to senior stakeholders. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams. Prior experience engaging with both business and technical teams is a plus.
  • Ability to evaluate market opportunities, develop strategic frameworks, and identify key growth levers for entering new industries.
  • While not required, familiarity with industrial processes, energy systems, or market dynamics in process heat or related sectors is a strong advantage.
  • Capable of thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
  • Self-starter with the ability to identify opportunities, address challenges independently, and drive projects to completion.
  • Collaborative mindset with a willingness to engage and learn from others across disciplines.
  • Familiarity with tools like Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau) is beneficial.

The hourly rate for this position is $26 for employees working onsite at our Alameda, CA headquarters. The range provided in this job posting represents the typical range or starting rate of candidates hired in California. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, the market data for your work location, and a comparison to other employees already in the role.
