J.P. Morgan Private Investments Inc. (JPMPI) is a Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) that acts as a sub-advisor to open-end and closed-end registered investment companies (RICs) for clients of J.P. Morgan Wealth Management and Investment Solutions (WMIS). Currently, JPMPI provides investment advice and/or administrative functions for private investment funds and provides discretionary investment management services in various wrap fee programs offered through J.P. Morgan affiliates. The Six Circles Trust within the Private Bank is a Mutual Fund Complex with assets of ~$90 billion.

Job Description

As a Private Bank Mutual Fund Administration, Assistant Treasurer, you will assist in the oversight of the service providers, including the Administrator, the transfer agent and the independent auditor and be the main contact for some of the vendors. The candidate will work in all aspects of the Fund Administration including the analysis of dividend projections/calculations, monthly and quarterly internal and external reporting as, the review of fund budgets and expense fluctuation analysis.

The role requires working cross functionally in areas including Portfolio and Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, Product Development, Sales/Distribution, Client Service, and the vendors that provide services to the pooled vehicles. The ability to lead projects and lead a team with respect to market, regulatory and internal governance.

Specific areas of responsibility include:

  • Fund Operations - Manage and operate within the current oversight model. Implementation of accounting policies & new regulations. Establish and execute on Management's vision for new and existing products.
  • New products/change to existing products - Collaborate with other JPMPI team to ensure the documentation and review of the new products and new instruments including prospectus trading/operational model, are approved with the appropriate risk-focused oversight controls.
  • Financial reporting and disclosure controls - Review of the Funds' financial statements and regulatory filings. Review and sign off on disclosure control procedures in support of annual Audit, monthly N-PORT filings, annual N-CEN, prospectus, and principal financial/executive officer certifications. Previous 15C reporting is a plus.
  • Management Reporting - Review vendor key performance indicators, follow internal escalation protocol related to the oversight of third-party fund administrators. Ability to research and document complex accounting matters and report to management and/or the Board.
  • Valuation Reporting - Approve the daily management appraised fair valued securities. Review and analyze valuation committee materials. review the form N-LIQUID reporting, Reasonably Anticipated Trade Size assumptions, derivative reporting (18f-). Previous experience as a Valuation/Liquidity member or committee chair is desired.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • 15 years of experience in the investment management industry specifically related to Mutual funds and/or Hedge Funds, Big 4 Public Accounting firm and/or relevant industry experience is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of mutual funds taxation; Distributions, K1s,1099.
  • Knowledge and experience across various asset classes (e.g., fixed income and equities) and complex instrument types (e.g., derivatives and structured products).
  • Experience running valuation/ Liquidity or other internal committees that report to the Board or Fund management.
  • Experience presenting in front of the Mutual Fund Board.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to evaluate issues, propose and implement solutions, with consideration for all downstream implications.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a cross functional team.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills. Experience with the creation of Accounting Policy Memos.
  • Proactive attitude, commitment to continuous learning, willing to challenge the status quo to improve processes.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and teams.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and skills:

  • CPA is preferred
