Job Description
The Business Control Management (BCM) team is responsible for building, developing and running the controls framework for our businesses globally. The Control Managers act as trusted advisors to the Front Office Business Executives within the Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB) and are responsible for implementing a robust first line of defense control environment with strong oversight and governance. The Control Managers also help implement a best-in-class supervisory culture and ensure the policies of the firm and associated controls are appropriately executed. Control Managers supports the end-to-end controls framework of a specific line of business within CIB while interacting with different functions including Business Management, Technology and Operations.
Role and Key Responsibilities:
Business Control Management team is looking for a strategic, analytical and energetic VP to manage the Markets Control Management teams and provide assistance to the Control Managers globally. The primary objective for the role is delivering and executing control-related projects and initiatives for specific lines of business and/or across Markets as a whole. Responsibilities include the following:
- Execution
- Management of end to end control related activities and processes across different teams
- Documenting processes and identifying control gaps; partnering with various subject matter experts to understand and assess the control environment including risks & controls
- Ensuring timely communication and escalation to stakeholders and management; presentation of project objectives, progress and benefits to varied audiences
- Manage future migrations from Donor locations
- Project Management
- Supporting the delivery of project objectives through the full project life cycle, across multiple business lines within Markets
- Working with functional partners including Front Office, Business Management, Technology Controls Officers, Operations, Technology and others to design and deliver agreed solutions
- Drive Ad-hoc projects towards Markets agenda globally
- Resource Management
- Centrally manage different groups within Markets ensuring appropriate span of control
- Provide leadership, direction and coaching, as well as Training and Development
- Establish performance parameters and drive performance review process
This role is varied and will demand coordination and oversight of different control, audit, project, initiatives that are underway to ensure consistency and proper prioritization. The role also consists of providing operational reporting to Senior Management, and the ability to partner with diverse Senior Stakeholders to drive efficiency and process enhancement
Qualifications & Key Competencies
- Proven leadership track record, especially in managing change and resources
- Experience in financial markets highly desirable.
- Previous working experience in Controls / Audit / Project Management desired. Solid understanding of controls and how to apply them to different processes and businesses
- Good organizational skills - manages & prioritizes multiple tasks across different time horizons within deadlines
- Ability to deal with issues on a global, cross business level. Strong analytical, problem solving & process re-engineering skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Minimum 5 years of management experience
- Personal attributes:
- Work independently while also operating effectively in a team based environment
- Ability to lead and guide a team to deliver on objectives
- Highly motivated, self-starter, prioritize and manage a demanding workload
- Develop relationships and demonstrate influence across a range of functions
