US Sovereign Financing Trading - Associate

NA Sovereign Financing is a part of the Global Fixed Income Financing business which sits within Macro Trading. The NA Sovereign Financing business interfaces with a broad range of clients including hedge funds, asset managers, central banks, dealers and internal cash desks. It is a large, critical business providing liquidity and financing across the US Treasury and Agency markets. The desk rolls up to NA Fixed Income Financing, which provides financing across Sovereign, Mortgage, Credit, SPG and Emerging Markets products.

Job Summary
Trading opportunity to work in a fast-moving product execution role covering the US Treasury financing market. You will manage pricing, position and risk arising from client driven financing needs, sourcing liquidity from bond holders to match up and lend onwards to a diverse client base and internal trading desks.

As a NA Sovereign Financing Trader on the Global Fixed Income team, you will be responsible for idea contribution, operating in both short term interest rate markets and financing markets, using a variety of products and trading strategies to risk manage activity. You will work closely with functional partners internally, engage our broad set of clients on market themes and partner closely with Sales to further the priorities of the business and service our diverse client base. Lastly, you will work to further the development of e-trading and electronification in our business.

Job responsibilities:

  • Market making in US Treasury Repo and Agency Repo markets.
  • Manage trading risk and hedging strategies utilizing USD short term interest rate products.
  • Maintaining strict compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Working closely with sales to facilitate client trading strategies.
  • Direct engagement with clients, to build business and discuss market themes through meetings, calls, dinners and events.
  • Writing trader commentaries on market events and trading themes.
  • Streamlining desk processes where required and help advance the desk e-trading agenda.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • 3 years of relevant experience gained within a similar Banking or Markets role.
  • Detailed understanding of the US Treasury and US Interest Rate markets.
  • Comprehensive understanding of trading and risk management strategies,
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple time sensitive processes in a pressured environment.
  • Analytical mind and proactive attitude to problem solving.
  • Ability to work as part of a close team with a strong focus on counterparty relationship management.
