Job Summary

JPMorgan Equities South Africa is a registered broker on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and our LOBs comprise cash equities; Index Forward Trading; EDG; Prime Finance; and Delta 1. We have a position within the Corporate Investment Banking (CIB) Equity Markets Operations team for a dynamic individual who is willing to contribute by adding value to the Lines of Business we support. Help us execute on our strategic Initiatives for the SSA Franchise and most importantly to ensure effective trade support & trade life cycle management for the SA Equities franchise.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create a robust control environment and efficient operating model that includes the performance of all relevant control reconciliations including stock/cash positions and FOBO reconciliations
  • Understanding the dual management systems and can introduce more control procedures to ensure the systems are always in sync
  • Trade capture in BDA & JPM corporate systems including account opening and static data processes.
  • Liaising with sales/traders; clients; custodian and internal JPM colleagues to ensure timely and accurate processing and settlement of all transactions. Develop and maintain effective client / customer and stakeholder relationships.
  • Appropriate and timely escalation and reporting of any pertinent issues
  • Ownership and resolution of all daily tasks as well as any extraordinary issues that arise
  • Support of new initiatives and or system implementations which include new products and processes.
  • Meeting all MIS and reporting deadlines
  • Maintenance of standard operating procedures

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 2 years'+ experience
  • B.Com degree or equivalent business qualification
  • A thorough understanding and appreciation of a sound operations control environment
  • Solid understanding of the South African equities market conventions
  • A thorough understanding of the trade lifecycle and events management.
  • Strong analytical skills to perform root cause analysis on related processes and controls.
  • Solutions first, to help us increase STP and mitigate the risk of recurring risk events
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to prioritise and co-ordinate work flows effectively
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Key Personality traits: Integrity, Self-starter with initiative, strong team player, Innovative, deadline / control orientated, Growth mindset, Emotional intelligence.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • BDA experience is advantageous
  • Proficient excel skills
  • Relevant South African equities operations experience.
  • Experience working with an international bank is advantageous
  • Proven project experience
