As a Senior Principal Architect at JPMorgan Chase within the Cross-Product Infrastructure team, you provide specialized expertise to influence the target state architecture and strategy. Work across teams to implement and advance the adoption of complex strategic global solutions that give JPMorgan Chase a competitive advantage. The team partners with senior leadership, Technology Group Owner (TGO) architects, and Product Line architects to determine potential approaches and strategies to deliver a stable, resilient, and secure operating environment where the products we deliver enable our businesses help address business needs.

As the Head of Applied Architecture Practices within the CPIA group, you will lead a small, dedicated team in crafting high-quality architectural solutions for diverse software applications and platform products supporting our Lines of Businesses. Your expertise across multiple technical domains will drive significant business impact and shape the future state of our technology platforms

Job responsibilities

  • Advises and leads on strategy and development of multiple products, applications, and technologies across a portfolio
  • Defines strategic implementations across Infrastructure Platforms and ensure adherence to the target state across multiple domains.
  • Serve as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus.
  • Drive decisions that influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes.
  • Drive the integration of our on-prem Gaia2 platform with public cloud offerings (AWS, Azure, GCP) under pinned by our common Atlas 2.0 management plane to provide a more seamless cloud experience that is secure, and highly resilient whilst enhancing the developer end-to-end experience.
  • Translates highly complex technical issues, trends, and approaches to leadership to drive the firm's innovation and enable leaders to make strategic, well-informed decisions about target state architecture
  • Drives adoption and implementation of technical methods in specialized fields in line with the latest product development methodologies
  • Establishes and leads an architecture governance body
  • Creates durable, reusable software frameworks that improves velocity and quality of output across teams and functions
  • Champions the firm's culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of software architecture, applications, and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
  • Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Serve as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus.
  • Expertise in one or more programming language(s), applications, and architecture disciplines
  • Demonstrated prior experience influencing across functions and teams to deliver modern architecture
  • Experience applying expertise and new methods to determine solutions for complex architecture problems across various technical disciplines
  • Extensive practical cloud native experience
  • Ability to evaluate current and emerging technologies to recommend the best technology solutions and approaches to achieve the future state architecture

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Proven experience in leading architecture designs from inception to completion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • In-depth understanding of security best practices and regulatory requirements in financial services.
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior architects and technical staff.
