As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Technology, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives. More specifically, you will play a key part in transforming ideas into beautiful, user-friendly web application features that resonate with our users. Your creativity and technical skills will help us deliver engaging digital experiences while enhancing and modernizing in-house web applications.

Job responsibilities

  • Design and develop responsive user interfaces for Java-based web applications, ensuring an optimal user experience across devices.
  • Collaborate with product managers, stakeholders, and current application users to translate concepts into interactive mockups and prototypes using Figma.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with proficiency in the ReactJS framework.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to gather feedback and iterate on designs for continuous improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest UI/UX trends, tools, and best practices to enhance our product offerings.
  • Actively participate in brainstorming sessions, contributing innovative ideas and solutions to improve our applications.
  • Mentor and share knowledge with team members to foster a culture of learning and collaboration.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts, coupled with 3+ years hands-on experience.
  • Experince with frontend frameworks, particularly ReactJS.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma or Adobe XD, with the ability to create detailed mockups and prototypes.
  • Experience and good understanding of Restful APIs using various Java frameworks.
  • Excellent understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices in usability.
  • Experience and good understanding of JavaScript testing frameworks (e.g., JEST, Vitest, Playwright, etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • A natural go-getter with a proactive attitude, ready to tackle challenges and drive projects forward.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and collaborate effectively with a globally located team.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and responsive design principles.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Familiarity with SALT design system (open source - JPMC UI Toolkit)
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile development methodologies.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies
