We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level.

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial and Investment Bank Digital and Platform Services, your role as a Senior Engineer on our agile team will involve designing and delivering trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You will partner with Product Owners, Front Office, Quantitative Research and Visual Designers to bring their vision of the next set of critical business functions into reality.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or breakdown technical problems
  • Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
  • Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
  • Be an active member of our scrum team (5-7 people) and be an active member governing the overall platform.
  • Engineer a suite of client facing portals utilizing react. Championing quality and owning the non-functional requirements.
  • Have the freedom to act like an owner and ensure a best in class client experience client experience.
  • Collaborate with the team to form the sprints that will get us to the MVP and then finally the target state.
  • Set direction and best practice around automated testing, platform framework, SDLC as well as acting a point of contact for more junior developers to give them guidance on best practices.
  • Collaborate with other Front-end developers to get involved with code reviews and building up our suite of re-suable components to facilitate faster development.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Proficient in coding in one or more languages
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Commercial experience working with React
  • Experience building and maintaining client facing platforms..
  • Knowledge of the web technologies (CSS/HTML/Javascript)
  • Experience in developing, debugging and automated testing (e.g. react testing library / cypress / vitest) within a commercial setting
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD (e.g. Jenkins), Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Experience collaborating with backend technology teams in designing scalable and reusable RESTful APIs

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Exposure to frontend libraries such as ag-grid, highcharts, redux as well as Typscript
  • Exposure to performance tuning complex UI's would be advantageous.
  • Working within Investment Bank / Finance Technology
