As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

You will join a wider global team that owns the Message Bus for Post Trade Technology, handling Settlement, Position Keeping and Asset Servicing communications between 200 applications across Securities Services and Markets with daily volumes in excess of 1.1 billion messages. You will join a growing agile feature team that is responsible for the Middleware team's Data Engineering, which is a diverse development role responsible for forward engineering of code from UML communication models, the development of a data quality framework (patented), a performance testing suite and a client onboarding portal with automated workflows and tollgates. You will work closely with technology and business colleagues to understand both functional and non-functional requirements, and then help drive the design and implementation of well tested, easily supportable, scalable and robust solutions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or breakdown technical problems
  • Creates secure and high-quality production code
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
  • Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Qualifications

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and applied experience
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Software Engineering or related technology degree that includes software engineering modules
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Proficient in coding in Core Java, version 11 or later
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., microservices, cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)

Preferred skills:

  • Proficient in Test Driven Development
  • Experience with Spring Boot
  • Experience developing with React
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or another RDBMS such as Oracle or MySQL
  • Experience with Cloud native software deployment, ideally AWS
