Job Description
As a Security Engineer I at JPMorgan Chase within the Cybersecurity and Technology Controls (CTC) division, specifically as a part of the Technology Governance, Risk & Controls (Tech GRC) team, your role will be pivotal in a fast-paced, agile environment. Your duties will encompass the creation of software solutions that satisfy both functional and user needs, while simultaneously preventing misuse and harmful actions. As an integral part of the security engineering team, your tasks will include the design, development, and troubleshooting of features that bolster security and mitigate risk for the firm, while also reducing the effort needed to adhere to technology controls.

Job responsibilities
- Executes basic software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting.
- Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with peer guidance.
- Interprets architecture and design representations as well as nonfunctional requirements to develop secure, stable software against a defined architecture.
- Actively applies automation to reduce manual toil in the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Addresses basic code quality issues.
- Gathers, analyzes, and synthesizes basic data sets in the service of technical troubleshooting and generating insights to drive continuous improvements.
- Breaks down routine technical tasks to troubleshoot and solve issues.
- Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience.
- Experience developing security engineering solutions.
- Proficient in coding in one or more languages such as Java.
- Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
- Experience in UI technologies like React or Angular.
- Experience in writing SQL queries, database management concepts, JDBC, and persistence API frameworks like Spring JPA.
- Strong hands-on coding experience in Core Java 11+, REST API, Spring Boot, Spring modules, Hibernate, Junit, Mockito.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies.
- Experience with public/private Cloud technologies (Cloud Foundry, AWS, Azure, etc.).
- Possess Cloud certification as an AWS-certified developer/cloud architect.
