As a Custody Product Manager within our Seucrities Services team, you will be driving product strategy, differentiation, and solutions within an intensely competitive environment. You will lead solution development, product enhancements, and regional collaboration while supporting pricing initiatives led by the regional team.
In this position, you will be responsible for expanding our market reach and aligning strategic investments with our growth objectives. You will advocate for clients' needs in our product capabilities while ensuring alignment with our global product strategy. As part of the team, the Vice President will work closely with regional product teams and local leadership teams, including Sales, Servicing, Operations, and Technology. You will collaborate with control partners and report directly to the Japan Head of Securities Services Product.
Your role will involve engaging with a diverse client base, including asset owners, asset managers, trust banks, and industrial partners. This interaction will help you understand their needs and deliver scalable solutions. The product scope for this role primarily focuses on custody services. However, you will also manage adjacent products such as cash liquidity and foreign exchange, fund services, agency securities financing, and collateral management.
The impact and goals of this position include driving the growth of the custody business and supporting clients in succeeding with their cross-border portfolio investments. You will ensure that our solutions meet their evolving needs and contribute to their success.
Job Responsibilities
- Identify areas of competitive advantage and develop strategies to enhance our custody product offering in the Japanese market.
- Work closely with clients and internal stakeholders to design tailored solutions that address evolving market needs.
- Leverage deep knowledge of the Japanese trust banking and securities services industry to anticipate trends and ensure product alignment.
- Engage with adjacent product teams and regional colleagues to drive product synergies and operational efficiencies.
- Provide market insights and business case inputs to support the regional team in developing and implementing pricing strategies.
- Take initiative and drive projects independently, ensuring timely and effective implementation of product initiatives.
Required qualification, capabilities and skills
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in custody, trust banking, or securities services, with a strong understanding of the Japanese market.
- Proven expertise in trust banking structures, regulations, and industry practices in Japan.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience in solution development and competitive analysis.
- Ability to work independently and proactively, taking ownership of product initiatives.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience working across functions and regions.
- Fluent in Japanese and proficient in English.
Preferred qualification, capabilities and skills
- Experience in adjacent product areas such as fund services, securities lending, or FX solutions.
- Knowledge of regional custody and global securities services trends.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to navigate complex client needs.
