As a Principal Risk Associate on the Principal Risk Management Team, you will be be instrumental in supporting the team in identifying, measuring, monitoring and controlling risk in principal investment activities (primarily financial commitments made using JPMC's capital in the form of tax equity, private equity, or other junior capital) globally. Our focus is firm wide and requires partnership across all lines of business and with cross risk disciplines, as well as interfacing with other various functions including Risk Reporting, Valuation Control Group, LOB and Risk Controller teams and other corporate functions.

Job responsibilities
- Perform risk due diligence of transaction onboarding to Principal Risk portfolio and ensure risks are understood, adequately captured and accurately reported in risk infrastructure.
- Conduct ongoing portfolio management and maintenance of Principal Risk limits, as well as communicating portfolio trends and developments to senior management and other firm stakeholders.
- Maintain Principal Risk policies and associated supplemental documents to ensure robust governance standards.
- Establish focus on control environment, including driving the processes for audit and regulatory matters.
- Support the team head on regular risk governance responsibilities and ad hoc requests from the senior management.
- Contribute to the enhancement of methodologies and guidelines consistent with a comprehensive principal investment framework.
- Develop, improve and maintain User Tools and data visualizations to support risk analyses.
- Assist in the development of legal entity processes, as well as improving alignment to regional Legal Entity Risk managers.
- Contribute to team deliverables related to VaR, Stress, CCAR, and Risk Appetite.
- Participate in new business initiatives by assessing their impact on principal risk exposure and stress metrics.
- Engage with Technology to establish business requirements for improving and automating Principal Risk infrastructure, workflow and regulatory response requests, as well as performing end to end functionality testing.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Undergraduate degree in economics, finance, mathematics, sciences or related discipline
- 3+ years work experience in risk management or related areas in the financial industry; familiarity with credit or market risk products & enthusiasm for financial markets
- Strong technical skills and financial product knowledge
- Experience working with large data sets and data visualization
- Strong interpersonal skills and project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to multi-task and work independently with high attention to detail
- Excellent attention to detail and diligent at following up on issues
- Pro-active attitude, intellectually curious, creative and self-motivated
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Master's degree in Finance or other quantitative disciplines
- Experience with macros, VBA, Python, Tableau and Bloomberg
