As a Risk Management - Modeler For Climate, Nature and Social - Vice President, you will play an important role in maintaining JPMorgan Chase's strength and resilience. Your efforts help the firm grow responsibly by anticipating emerging risks and applying expert judgment to address real-world challenges affecting our company, customers, and communities. Your strong skills in data analysis, research, and communication will support the development of climate and nature risk capabilities across the organization. You will collaborate with various internal stakeholders, gaining insights into the diverse factors that influence the assessment of climate changes on a large, global financial institution.

Job Responsibilities

  • Establish and refine transmission channels between Integrated Assessment Models and large-scale global macro-econometric models and contribute to climate and nature risk scenarios to assess the impact of related shocks on the national, sectorial, and regional economies.
  • Improve existing macroeconomic models to better capture the complexities of climate and nature risks and develop new models as necessary to address emerging economic issues related to climate and nature.
  • Collaborate with climate scientists, economists, and risk professionals across the firm to ensure a comprehensive approach to climate and nature risk assessment and integrate related macroeconomic insights into broader risk strategies.
  • Stay informed on the latest research and developments in macroeconomics, climate science, and related fields, and conduct original research to enhance understanding of the economic impacts of climate change and transition.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and guidelines related to climate and nature risk management and scenario design and ensure that the scenario analysis activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Advanced degree (master's or Ph.D.) in Economics, Environmental Economics, Climate Science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in macroeconomic forecasting, climate risk analysis, or related areas, with a solid background in econometric and statistical modelling techniques.
  • Familiarity with climate models and the integration of climate data into economic models.
  • Proficiency in econometric software and statistical tools (e.g., R, Stata, MATLAB, Python), with strong analytical skills to interpret complex data and model outputs.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, collaborating with economists, climate scientists, and risk analysts.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Prior experience in developing and analyzing climate risk scenarios is highly desirable.
