We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level.

As a Python Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Treasury & Chief Investment Office (TCIO), Corporate Technology team you will play a crucial role in improving, developing, and delivering top-tier technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner.

This new role requires a driven individual who thrives in a fast-paced setting, takes ownership of tasks, and is comfortable working as part of an Agile team on solutions for the TCIO trading desk. The successful candidate will develop components in the firms' strategic trading and risk management platform, writing solutions in Python and implementing trade execution/trade management functionality for financial products. The role requires knowledge of Agile Delivery Methodologies and Object-Oriented Design, whilst being able to excel as part of a team via excellent technical contribution, communication, and partnership.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, and support the Trade Execution Platform, which is critical to trading and other business activities.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand requirements, propose solutions, and deliver high-quality software solutions in a timely manner.
  • Proactively identify improvements in the systems and processes to reduce risk and improve performance.
  • Ensure clear communication with colleagues to align on technical solutions and business needs.
  • Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
  • Participate in the discovery and design phases and interact with other technology teams and stakeholders.
  • Develop secure high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
  • Actively contribute to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Contribute to the wider team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and applied experience.
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Proficient in coding in one or more languages such as Python
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in real-time and handle technical issues with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with non-technical colleagues to understand and address business needs.
  • Solid technology background with experience in object-oriented programming and a commitment to writing clean, efficient, and scalable code.
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to work effectively in a global team.
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies.
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Ability to work on large scale systems, navigating unknowns and producing robust solutions to complex issues.
  • Familiarity with modern front-end technologies (Python, React, Typescript)
  • Knowledge of financial products; mainly derivatives and fixed income securities.
