As an Associate in our Japan Payment Operations team, you will be responsible for reviewing the overall status of payments, including volume, repair cases, exceptions, cancellations, amendments, and any roll-overs from previous days. You'll handle pending and queued items in the payment systems that aren't straight-through processing (STP) and keep an eye on email and SWIFT inquiries from customers and counterparties. Collaborating closely with the client service team, Products, Global Corporate Center, and Operations Managers, you'll address non-STP payments and inquiries. Additionally, you'll partner with the Technology and Product teams to enhance system controls and boost capacity.

Job Responsibilities
- Process and operate the tasks for Payment/Deposit Ops.
- Communicate with Hub Operations in a timely manner to complete daily operations without issue.
- Resolve typical inquiries/issues from external/internal clients; act as preliminary escalation point for process matters.
- Prepare regulatory reports with Manager to check.
- Manage projects to support new product on-boarding, in a supervisory role.
- Participate and support various system tests for system/business driven projects.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Effective communication skill both in Japanese and English at business level
- Team player with good interpersonal skill
- Control mind to process daily operations complying with corporate policies and regulations
- Manage issues and escalation from team members; work with Managers to plan the correction and preventive measures.
- Flexibility and adaptability
- Ability to prioritize and execute multi-tasks independently
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Over 15 years of experience preferably in banking operations with depth understanding of Japan clearing systems
