As a Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Data Delivery technology team, you lead multiple teams and manage day-to-day implementation activities by identifying and escalating issues and ensuring your team's work adheres to compliance standards, business requirements, and tactical best practices.

Job responsibilities

  • Provides guidance to immediate team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities
  • Sets the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration
  • Anticipates dependencies with other teams to deliver products and applications in line with business requirements
  • Manages stakeholder relationships and the team's work in accordance with compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements
  • Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for the team members and prioritizes diverse representation

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering* concepts and 5+ years applied experience. In addition, demonstrated coaching and mentoring experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Java/Spark technologies
  • Should have good experience in understanding requirement related to extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) of data using Java/Spark on Hadoop platform.
  • Should have strong SQL skills; Teradata is preference but experience in any other RDBMS technology would suffice and have good knowledge about Datawarehousing Concepts
  • Should be able to independently design, build, test and deploy the code
  • Should be able to lead by example and guide the team with their technical expertise
  • Should be able to identify risks/issues for the project and manage them accordingly
  • People management skills would be given preference but is not mandatory
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Knowledge or experience on ETL technologies like Informatica or Ab-initio would be preferable.
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
