We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Associate - Legal Entity Controller to support our Accounting & financial reporting functions. In this role, you will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to the overall success of the finance team.

As a Legal Entity Controller within our Accounting & Financial Reporting team, you will play an instrumental role in ensuring our firm's controls are operating effectively. You will ensure we provide accurate and timely reporting to external stakeholders and partner with businesses across the group to assist them in reaching their potential. You will also provide guidance and support to all areas of the firm in developing plans, in line with location and regional initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements for legal entities in compliance with HGB (Handelsgesetzbuch)
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Assist with statutory reporting and ensure timely submission of reports to regulators.
  • Work closely with external auditors during audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
  • Collaborate with tax teams to support local tax accounting and reporting.
  • Monitor and ensure the accuracy of intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of internal controls and financial reporting processes.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects, including system implementations, financial analysis, and process improvements.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in accounting, auditing, or financial reporting.
  • Experience in public accounting or multinational environments.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and MS applications.
  • Basic familiarity with financial reporting standards of US GAAP.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Eager to learn and take on new challenges in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in German (written and spoken)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities , and skills

  • Experience of the Firm's ledger and consolidation platform (SAP, CDGL and BPC)
  • Advanced Excel skills and ideally understanding of process enhancement tools such as Alteryx & Tableau
  • Continuous improvement / innovation mindset
