We are seeking candidates for a mid-level lawyer position in our APAC Asset Management legal team. You can expect a dynamic business environment, with good exposure and direct access to key stakeholders in the business.
As an Assistant General Counsel, Vice President in the Asset Management Legal team, you will be based in Singapore and primarily provide broad legal coverage to JPMorgan Asset Management (JPMAM) Singapore for our Singapore/South East Asia business initiatives, along with opportunity to support JPMAM's service offering in Japan. Attorneys must be licensed to practice law and a member in good standing or otherwise eligible to practice law in the jurisdiction in which the position is based. All candidates for roles in the Legal department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment.

Job responsibilities
- Advise the business on legal and regulatory issues relating to the offer of investment products and strategies across all asset classes in Singapore and South-East Asia
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements and documentation in connection with establishment and offer of investment funds and investment management mandates and their downstream trading activities including distribution/platform agreements, investment management agreements fund prospectuses, prime brokerage, trading agreements
- Advise internal business clients including Product Development and Implementation, Intermediaries and Institutional Sales Teams and Marketing etc. to implement business projects and objectives
- Track and advise on impact of legal and regulatory changes
- Partner with Compliance and other control functions to further the enhancement of the Firm's control framework
- Create and enhance standard agreements or other document templates
- Collaborate with the broader JPMC Legal team and participate in global and/or regional group Legal projects and provide support for the asset management legal and business teams in Japan
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and a qualified lawyer
- Minimum of 6 years of post-qualification experience with law firms or in-house with international financial services providers
- Commercially attuned to the needs of a global asset management business, with good understanding of current legal and regulatory landscape of the Singapore and South-East Asian asset management industry
- Experience in offer and operations of asset management products for retail and/or institutional markets (including managed funds and ETFs) gained from a leading law firm, investment bank or asset management company
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Proactive mindset with ability to work under pressure and independently
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with teams and diverse stakeholders
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in Japanese to engage and collaborate with teams and stakeholders in Japan
