As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Cloud Foundational Services (CFS a part of Infrastructure Platforms - IP) , you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver database related technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a software engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud-based database solutions on AWS. You will leverage your expertise in Python, AWS, Terraform, and CI/CD techniques to ensure robust, scalable, and efficient systems. Your deep understanding of computing will be essential in optimizing our infrastructure and processes.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable database solutions on AWS.
  • Utilize Python for automation, data processing, and application development.
  • Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform to manage AWS resources.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features.
  • Optimize system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and experience with AWS services (e.g., RDS, Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, KMS, Step Functions, ECS, EKS ).
  • Expertise in Terraform for infrastructure as code.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Spinnaker, AWS CodeDeploy).
  • Observability with Cloudwatch / Grafana / Splunk / Datadog
  • Good knowledge of computing concepts, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Experience with database design, optimization, and management.
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, API design, application development, software testing, security and operational resiliency.
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
  • Practical cloud native experience

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or similar certification.
  • In depth knowledge of Terraform or Cloud Formation (IAC)
  • Strong Python and software engineering experience.
  • Advanced software testing skills
  • Experience in DevOps and working in an Agile environment.
