As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the SPS - Electronic Trading Services (ETS), you hold a crucial role in your team, demonstrate strong knowledge across multiple technical domains, and advise others on the technical and business issues facing them. Take lead and conduct resiliency design reviews, break up complex problems into digestible work for other engineers, act as a technical lead for medium to large-sized products, and provide advice and mentoring to other engineers.

Job responsibilities

  • Demonstrates and champions site reliability culture and practices and exerts technical influence throughout your team.
  • Leads initiatives to improve the reliability and stability of Network infrastructure to improve service levels.
  • Applies technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to projects of moderate scope
  • Drives a workstream or project consisting of one or more infrastructure engineering technologies
  • Works with other platforms to architect and implement changes required to resolve issues and modernize the organization and its technology processes
  • Executes creative solutions for the design, development, and technical troubleshooting for problems of moderate complexity
  • Strongly considers upstream/downstream data and systems or technical implications and advises on mitigation actions
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Deep knowledge of one or more areas of infrastructure engineering such as hardware, networking terminology, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, or performance assessments
  • Develop and implement network solutions tailored to the needs of electronic trading environments, ensuring low latency and high reliability.
  • Plan and execute network upgrades to improve performance, scalability, and security.
  • Continuously monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Respond to network incidents and outages promptly, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls and update firewall policy rules
  • Design, configure, and manage load balancers, including F5 BIG-IP, to ensure efficient distribution of network traffic.
  • Coordinate with Cisco, Arista, and F5 support teams for troubleshooting and hardware replacements.
  • Optimize network configurations to reduce latency and improve throughput, which is critical in trading environments.
  • Deep knowledge of one specific infrastructure technology and Automation/scripting languages (e.g., Scripting, Ansible, Python, etc.)
  • Drives to continue to develop technical and cross-functional knowledge outside of the product

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Deep understanding of network design, implementation, and maintenance, as well as the ability to manage complex network environments and ensure the reliability, performance, and security of the trading infrastructure
  • Cisco Technologies: Proficiency in configuring and managing Cisco routers and switches, including knowledge of IOS and NX-OS.
  • Arista Technologies: Expertise in Arista's EOS, and experience with Arista's low-latency switching solutions.
  • Network Protocols: In-depth understanding of network protocols such as BGP, FHRP, and multicast.
  • Automation and Scripting: Experience with network automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ansible) to automate network tasks and configurations.
