Job Summary: As a Japan Rates Strategist Associate/Analyst in our Tokyo Strategy team, you will play a crucial role in providing our views on Japan rates markets to both Japanese and Non-Japanese client and non-yen rates markets to Japanese clients. You will work closely with our economists and strategists to develop comprehensive views on bond markets, issue trade recommendations, and communicate our market outlook to a global client base. Your role is vital in delivering actionable insights and fostering strategic conversations with our clients.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyze macroeconomic themes and technical drivers affecting Japanese rate markets.
  • Formulate investment recommendations of Japan rate markets.
  • Collaborate with the Tokyo research team and global rates strategy team to develop forecasts and views.
  • Communicate views to clients and internal teams through reports, webinars, and conferences.
  • Build and manage analytics and quantitative models.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Language: Japanese (business fluency), English (business fluency)
  • Minimum one year experience in fixed income markets at a financial institution.
  • Familiarity with economic and financial databases such as Bloomberg.
  • Strong understanding of macroeconomics, financial economics, and fixed income markets.
  • Excellent analytical skills with knowledge of statistics and econometrics/data science.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with proven teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Experience publishing on Japan Market fixed income strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with clients effectively.
  • Strong technical skills combined with commercial acumen.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a strong work ethic.
