Given this is our retail business, we are looking for a writer that brings both technical brilliance in investing concepts as well as emotional intelligence and an understanding of consumer behaviour. The right candidate would be able to move fluently between the worlds of specialist economists and customer experience designers - proactively leading conversations about financial market trends and content effectiveness in equal measure.

Our content team is at the heart of creating good customer experiences, and so we're looking for people who have a curious mindset, thrive in collaborative squads, and are passionate about new technology. By their nature, our people are also solution-oriented, commercially savvy and have a head for fintech.

Job Responsibilities

  • Drive the thought leadership agenda proactively by staying up to date on financial markets, scanning for trends, distilling the Investment Team's analysis and finding an angle that is interesting to our customers and cuts through the noise.
  • Partner with the Investment team, researchers, and senior subject matter experts from across the business - communicating our content strategy clearly, requesting and coordinating timely content inputs, managing publication expectations and closing the feedback loop.
  • Critically examine the value of the insight we are bringing to customers, driving our standards and pushing the Investment Team to be highly customer centric in what they are communicating.
  • Managing the insights pipeline, communicating deadlines with stakeholders involved in content creation, review and distribution so that these stick to the agreed schedule.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization who come to content design from different angles-like PR, brand, legal, risk, and more-to facilitate progress and influence direction.
  • Champion the value of good shareable content among other teams.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Maintain and implement writing guidelines that are in line with our brand and voice.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Demonstrable experience in the area of investments and/or other complex financial instruments - with a high understanding of financial markets and enjoy staying up to date with macro, asset class, sector and geographical trends.
  • You understand consumer needs, and can make complex investing concepts straightforward and relevant.
  • You have a journalistic mindset and are interrogative, confident, and creative. You can comfortably host an interview with senior experts to canvas their views and get to the heart of the story and why it matters.
  • You are exceptionally organised, able to collaborate and communicate effectively, and can build strong relationships with internal stakeholders. People want to work with you.
  • While you can respond to a writing brief with ease, you can also interrogate and refine a brief, and create comprehensive briefs for subject matter experts and designers to contribute to content creation.
  • You have high standards for content quality, combining technical accuracy with effective storytelling techniques and systems thinking.
  • Moving between strategy and hands on writing and editing comes naturally to you, as you are curious about content performance and continuously improving the customer experience.
  • Native fluency in written and verbal English.
  • Data literacy - an ability to understand reports, charts and tables about investing, and determine how we make these more accessible to our customers.
  • Experience working at an investments, asset management or financial advice firm is preferred.
  • While writing investment insights is your strength, you can work with stakeholders from design, marketing, brand and product teams to ensure a consistent voice across our communications.
  • Experience writing digital content with an understanding of SEO.
  • Experience scripting for videos, and hosting audio-visual interview.
