As a Home Lending Origination Attorney - Assistant Vice President, Senior Counsel within our Home Lending Originations Legal Department, you will spend your day collaborating with other legal professionals and supporting various partners within the Home Lending business. You will be able to act autonomously as a subject matter expert in federal and state mortgage laws. You will have a demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence their peers. Job responsibilities
- Develop expertise in state and federal laws related to the origination of mortgage loans.
- Understand and provide guidance to the Home Lending line of business teams on matters that impact home lending to provide clear, consistent and comprehensive guidance to business partners.
- Actively contribute to the success of the team through team collaboration
- Provide support to the Home Lending Originations legal team with special projects, escalated matters and state law research
- Lead team projects and serve as a subject matter expert for an assigned legal review
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Minimum 2 years of legal experience with a mortgage company, bank or law firm
- Law Degree and membership in jurisdictional organization. Attorney candidates must be in compliance with all relevant licensing requirements including the requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in team environments and work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders
- Solve problems with collaboration, creativity, and practicality
- Display strong analytical, organization, time-management and communication skills
- Possess legal research skills
- Ability to adapt to change effectively and exercise sound judgment
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience as an attorney with a mortgage company or bank
- Knowledge of mortgage title insurance and real property law
