Within Control Management, the Governance team owns and implements the governance framework for International Consumer Banking (ICB) Globally; it has responsibility for regulatory, business; and strategic governance programs and initiatives that arise; as well as Governance focused regulatory engagements; and the provision of Board and LOB related reporting and analytics. The Governance team works in close partnership with the business areas and functions aligned to ICB and the broader firm. This role will require someone who works well within a team, someone who is a self-starter, with strong attention to detail who thrives in a dynamic growing, fluid business.

In support of both local business and corporate requirements, the Governance Associate will work closely with senior management to establish and maintain the end-to-end ICB governance framework.

The ICB Governance Associate, would report into the ICB Head of Governance.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting specific reporting requirements for relevant Legal Entity Boards and LOB Control Committees and forums, this may involve taking appropriate minutes, action tracking and follow up, and managing meetings (agenda, schedule, and logistics)
  • Supporting data collation and timely reporting for relevant Board/LOB Committee reports, and materials in accordance with strict deadlines.
  • Coordinating the development of appropriate metrics and reporting to ensure adequate visibility and transparency across ICB Committees/Forums
  • Coordinating topics for presentations (materials and presenters)
  • Reviewing topics for governance focus, reporting analysis for statuses and ensuring a month-on-month trending view is supplied
  • Facilitating leadership and/or other management meetings
  • Managing ad-hoc queries (from Control Managers, Audit, Management, etc.)
  • Point of contact for ICB Governance projects/initiatives
  • Providing secretariat support, including planning, organising and follow ups in line with regulator or requests as and when required. The team has exposure to the most senior ICB Business Leadership and functional partners.
  • Continuous review and development of governance processes to provide opportunities for improvements in efficiency.
  • Developing and building a strong network of internal stakeholder relationships in support of delivering key ICB governance materials.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years experience in financial services industry with background in governance, controls, regulatory, risk, audit, quality assurance, finance or compliance preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a commanding and convincing delivery and the ability to present information in differing degrees of detail and form depending on audience
  • Strong skills in time management with the ability to manage complex work plans, conflicting priorities and the ability to multi-task when required in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive, self-starter able to consistently deliver work of a high standard whilst under pressure, comfortable working independently in a dynamic and challenging environment.
  • Strong relationship building and influencing skills and ability to engage with senior management.
  • Track record in acting in a review function, providing thoughtful and constructive input
  • Ability to reconcile, analyse and interpret data, and to summarise key messages for providing commentary
  • Flexibility and ability to partner with other team members across global time zones
  • Work effectively in agile environments, adaptable to shifting priorities and delivering value whilst dealing with change
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills, including Power Point and Excel; Jira and Confluence
