The Fintech Strategy & Investments team sits at the intersection of finance and technology innovation - the team identifies and executes on cutting-edge ideas by formulating strategy, engaging in strategic partnerships, and investing in innovative fintech companies. We partner with business leads across the Line of business to advance J.P. Morgan's digital agenda and enhance J.P. Morgan's strategic positioning. Our focus areas include Artificial Intelligence, DLT, Business Automation, Digital Client Experience, Emerging Tech and several other key areas.
As an associate, you will help create and define forward-looking digital strategies, leveraging partnerships and investments with external fintechs to generate efficiency, drive revenue, and create new business opportunities for CIB. The team collaborates with the business, cross-LOB, and corporate functions to evaluate, structure, and execute potential strategic partnership, investments, and/or divestiture transactions. The role also involves a broad range of non-transaction activities (e.g., portfolio management, market monitoring/research etc.) and various analyses to support strategic projects.

Fintech Strategy & Investments - Associate will be responsible for:
- Research and analyze industry landscapes to evaluate new opportunities, identify emerging trends and refine investment theses
- Monitor and track KPIs for portfolio companies to inform ongoing investment decisions
- Scout and profile new fintech companies, conducting deep-dive due diligence and competitive benchmarking on potential partnership and investment opportunities
- Create presentation materials for senior stakeholders
- Develop relationships with internal functional partners and CIB business partners
- Engage with fintech companies, VC investors, and the broader fintech community
- Participate in industry events to network with the broader ecosystem and identify emerging trends
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
- 3+ years of experience in financial services (investment banking, markets, research), PE/VC, startups (fintechs), management consulting, or strategy equivalent
- Strong interest in fintech, digital business transformation, and fintech innovation
- Proficiency in quantitative storytelling, ability to create impactful presentations using compelling data analysis and rigorous research
- Open, collaborative, team-oriented operating style, works well with cross-functional teams
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities; strong organizational skills
- Detail-oriented, with strong time management skills
- Passion for learning and ability to learn quickly
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills:
- Experience in financial markets with an emphasis on fintech, innovation, investments, and partnerships
- Deep knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, DLT, Digital Transformation and Emerging Tech
- Proven proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel, ideally with financial modelling and data analysis experience
- Familiarity with researching companies and use of relevant research tools
- Self-starter, who isn't afraid to escalate early, or ask for help when it is needed
