Corporate Finance: Firmwide Financial Control - Ledger Oversight & Control - Analyst

The Firmwide Financial Control organization is responsible for the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of the Firm's books and records, while providing reporting to both internal and external clients.

The organization closely examines the general ledger, operating systems and infrastructure controls across the entire lifecycle of the business to ensure the firm's financial information is accurately depicted for reporting and regulation purposes. This financial information is used by analysts to assess the firm's financial position; by management to make sound financial decisions; by investors to make informed decisions; and by regulators to supervise and examine the firm appropriately.

The most common functions and activities owned by Firmwide Financial Control (FFC) include but are not limited to the following: financial analysis, consolidation, reporting, balance sheet reconciliation/certification/substantiation, general ledger reconciliation reporting & governance, inter-entity control and governance, manual accounting/bookings to the general ledger and operating systems, and executing the month end close process.

The Ledger Oversight & Control analyst will serve as the first line of communication & assistance for business users of JPMC's general ledger, SAP, as well as its reporting and reconciliation tools. The team works closely with technology to provide resolution for a wide variety of production issues, project implementations and user education. This individual will as act as the subject matter expert during project engagements and as a representative of the business where necessary.

Please note: this is a hybrid position that requires in-office attendance with the rest of the team three days of the week.

Responsibilities

  • Ticket and issue management raised through the ServiceNow system for SAP and CDGL.
    • Uses business and application knowledge to interpret business user questions.
    • Provides resolution to business user
    • Escalates to technology where required
    • Partner with line of business and technology to solve production issues
  • Business support and representation for system events which require business validations such as system enhancements/implementations, project go-lives, disaster recovery testing, etc.
  • Raise system enhancement requests on behalf of users where required
  • General support for any audit or regulatory requests

Qualifications

Successful candidates will be highly motivated, quick learners, with exceptional analytical skills and able to handle complex products and processes; demonstrate leadership potential; able to shift focus to address changing priorities; eager to learn; and have the tenacity required to drive change in a sometimes stressful, fast-paced, and priority-driven environment. Additional qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 1-3 years' business, finance or accounting or industry experience
  • Possess strong attention to detail and analytical problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship management, and communication skills
  • Proactive and enthusiastic team player who will thrive in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Aptitude for consuming large amounts of data quickly and applying acquired knowledge to improve and execute responsibilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Basic understanding of financial statements, accounting procedures, internal and external reporting, and variance analysis.
