Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to thematic sector reports and collaborate on cross-sector projects with other teams.
  • Handle day-to-day client requests and needs efficiently.
  • Communicate your team's ideas persuasively to internal and external parties, tailoring communications to client needs.
  • Organize fact-finding trips and channel-check meetings upon clients' bespoke requests or for investor tours.
  • Suggest new approaches or ideas to enhance your franchise as a business.
  • Understand and adhere to the firm's risk management policies and applicable legal and regulatory rules.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, or other related disciplines.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Business Mandarin reading/speaking proficiency to read documents in Chinese to support China clients.
  • Proven analytical skills, not limited to accounting and finance.
  • Ability to independently arrange fact-finding trips and channel-check meetings.
  • Entrepreneurial drive with strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Ability to complete a robust model (base and sensitivity cases) from start to finish with minimal guidance; mastery of the levers in the model.
  • Ability to discuss in detail your understanding of the fundamentals/drivers (competitive landscape, risks) of your industry/country and thoroughly understand drivers of relevant markets to explain and anticipate market movements.
  • Ability to synthesize disparate pieces of information and articulate a compelling thesis or argument clearly and cogently.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience preferred; background in Energy, Commodity, EV battery, Chemicals is a plus.
  • Strong preference for trilingual analyst, basic Korean or Japanese to liaise with stakeholders from Korea and Japan.
  • Preference for analysts with prior work experience in investigative journalism at a reputable media outlet.
  • A CFA/CPA, or progress toward a CFA/CPA, is a plus.
  • Demonstrates creativity in solving problems and always looks for new ways of doing things.
  • Ability to thrive under competitive pressures and highly focused on business/client needs.
  • Ability to interact comfortably with business clients and management.
