EMEA Capital Strategy - Associate

The role is within the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Capital Management and Strategy (ECMS) team in JPM Finance function. The ECMS team ensures compliance of specific legal entities with prudential regulatory obligations with a focus on regulatory capital.

As a Associate within Capital Management and Strategy (ECMS) team, you will be responsible for capital forecasting and management for PRA & FCA regulated entities, reviews of New Business Initiatives (NBIA) and Trade proposals from a regulatory capital perspective, regulatory capital optimizations, regulatory capital impact forecasting of anticipated changes in regulatory capital rules, conduct of internal capital adequacy assessments (ICAAP & ICARA), capital stress testing, delivering ad-hoc analysis of regulatory capital rules and capital reporting & forecast data. The role will entail working with a wide range of internal stakeholders to achieve project objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, update, and refresh legal entity regulatory capital forecasts periodically and in response to business & regulatory changes.
  • Analyze & review NBIA and trade proposals for review and approval from a regulatory capital perspective within deadlines.
  • Perform quarterly & annual internal capital assessments (ICAAP/ICARA) for legal entities.
  • Co-ordinate & project managing the ICAAP/ICARA delivery with other stakeholders like Risk, Treasury, Compliance, Legal etc.
  • Perform regulatory capital impact analysis to support legal entities transition due to regulatory change or to support regulatory applications and requests.
  • Perform responsibilities with a strong control mindset & environment.
  • Support capital optimization initiatives from a regulatory capital analysis perspective.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor's or higher qualification in finance, accounting, or business
  • Regulatory capital or risk experience (minimum 3 years).
  • Practical working knowledge of banking & financial service organizations and understanding of financial products.
  • Ability to analyze business & trade proposals with focus on regulatory capital implications.
  • Control oriented mindset, strong attention to detail and commercial sense.
  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to research, analyze & apply regulatory capital aspects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skill.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, and liaison with other internal stakeholders.
  • Strong work ethic and initiative. Ability to manage multiple priorities, work to deadlines and handle ambiguity.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and ability to handle large data sets.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience of performing ICAAPs & ICARAs.
  • Experience with data analysis tools like Alteryx.
