As a Director of Data Engineering in Financial Planning and Analysis Engineering within our Corporate Technology unit, you lead a data pipeline and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of data, analytics, applications, technical processes, and product management to lead multiple complex projects and initiatives, make key decisions for your team, and a drive innovation and solution delivery.

Financial Planning and Analysis Engineering is a key finance function that supports each Line of Business and the firmwide CFO. This unit is responsible for reporting, forecasting, analyzing, planning and stress-testing the income statement, balance sheet and capital for JP Morgan Chase. The Lead in this role will be specifically aligned to 'Technology Investment Governance' function, which is a platform to support the management and governance of Firm's Technology Budget. Technology leader will deliver tools to internal Finance and Business management (F&BM) and Technology teams which support creation/management & monitoring the $16B technology approved budget expense with key focus on optimizing Process, Cost & driving efficiency.

Job responsibilities

  • Leads data and process implementation teams to achieve functional technology objectives
  • Makes strategic decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the implementation of processes and procedures
  • Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations
  • Delivers data pipeline and architecture solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses
  • Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and data technology teams
  • Champions the firm's culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
  • Experienced in developing and delivering large scale systems using Java SpringBoot, Microservices, database technologies.
  • Experience in working on data engineering with thorough experience in Data architecture, Data pipelining and platform management. In addition, demonstrated coaching and mentoring experience
  • Programming experience in Java, Python, Scala etc.
  • Experience in using distributed frameworks like Databricks, Snowflakes, Spark, Hadoop etc. with experience with AWS services like Lambda, EC2, EMR, Redshift, Glue, S3, IAM, RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB etc. and Knowledge of cloud networking, security, storage, and compute services
  • Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
  • Experience leading a product as a Product Owner or Product Manager
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience working at code level
  • Knowledge of API and Event management
