As a Java Data Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking Customer Acquisition and Marketing Platform, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes software solutions, design, development and maintain data pipelines on AWS.
  • Implement data processing workflows using services such as Amazon EMR, AWS Glue and AWS Lambda.
  • Implement streaming data pipelines using services like Kafka or Kinesis.
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues and implement solutions.
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in Java programming language and frameworks like Spring Boot.
  • Hands-on experience with services such as Apache Spark, AWS Glue, AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, and Amazon EMR.
  • Experience with Streaming and related tools like Kafka or Kinesis.
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases.
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certification.
  • Experience with Terraform.
  • Experience with other programming languages such as Python or Scala.
  • Knowledge of data governance and data security best practices.
