This is a unique opportunity for you to work with Global Technology Applied Research (GTAR) center at JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPMC). The goal of GTAR is to design and conduct research across multiple frontier technologies, in order to enable novel discoveries and inventions, and to inform and develop next-generation solutions for the firm's clients and businesses.

As a Cryptography Research Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the CTO Office, Global Technology Applied Research, you will perform research and development of novel solutions in quantum communications and cryptography. As a key member of the Global Technology Applied Research Team in Singapore, you will work closely with internal project teams, senior management, and external communities alike to advance these research focus areas in a way that is beneficial to the firm. You will cultivate investigations into these areas, produce research solutions in collaboration with the internal project teams, and contribute to the firm's intellectual property.

Job responsibilities

  • Work closely with a team of researchers and engineers, build software platforms, and build and integrate research components in those platforms
  • Lead the conception and delivery of novel solutions to problems faced by internal project teams
  • Document and communicate said solutions to stakeholders
  • Advance the field of quantum communications and cryptography (e.g. quantum safe networks, secure computation)
  • Contribute to JPMC's IP by pursuing necessary protections of generated IP

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer/Info-communications Engineering or related disciplines
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with implementing cryptography algorithms from scratch while adhering to security practices and achieving high performance
  • Familiarity with NIST standards
  • Must have a curious mind
  • Experience in designing and implementing cryptosystems
  • Knowledge of internal workings of both modern and enterprise Linux systems such as Ubuntu/RHEL
  • Demonstrate ability to work as an independent contributor for innovation projects in an ambiguous environment
  • Experience with C programming and associated environments is a must

  • Highly adaptable and resourceful in software development to meet ad-hoc and rapid changes

The Chief Technology Office oversees enabling components inclusive of the top quality engineering and architecture tools and practices, key program management and processes as well as the technology workforce strategy required to make us a leading technology company for our customers, clients and colleagues around the world.
