We're looking for a passionate, driven, and communicator to join J.P. Morgan's Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) Marketing and Communications team. You'll join a team that's a trusted advisor to senior leaders and key stakeholders across the company and utilises a variety of channels and tools to reach its target audiences. The team develops, executes and measures internal communications programs that help ensure employees remain informed and engaged on the business strategy, priorities and culture; and promote both proactive and reactive external communications initiatives that highlights the business and aid in safeguarding the firm's reputation.

As a Corporate Communications, Associate within J.P. Morgan's CIB business in Australia and New Zealand you will develop relationships across our businesses to help provide support and guidance on securing stories in key top tier and trade media outlets, as well as support a range of internal communications initiatives, including executive messages and town hall events. Based in Sydney, your role will also collaborate with functional partners and communications colleagues across Asia Pacific and globally, to tell a coordinated story that align with business objectives. Previous PR agency or in-house experience within banking/financial services preferred.

Job responsibilities:

  • Supporting proactive and reactive media engagement for the CIB
  • Forging close relationships with businesses leaders to help develop proactive communications plans that align with business objectives
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key members of the press
  • Helping coordinate and support day-to-day relationships with financial journalists and helping them as they write about the firm's Research product, ensure journalists have controlled access to the firm's Research analysts and their reports, markets and the bank's spokespeople
  • Managing logistics for media interviews, and supporting our spokespeople throughout these interactions
  • Providing support for a broad range of internal communications initiatives, including executive messages, business updates, success stories and organisation announcements
  • Collaborating with partners within Corporate Responsibility on the firm's philanthropic strategy across Australia and New Zealand and provide support on internal and external communication on the firm's social impact
  • Monitoring media coverage and assist in creating analysis and measurement reports for the Marketing & Communications team

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills :

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant agency or in-house media relations experience
  • Effective written and verbal skills with the confidence to communicate with senior stakeholders
  • Experience in media relations with a track record of successfully delivering coverage in priority publications, or relevant journalism experience covering the financial industry
  • An acute attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize high volume, high priority initiatives in a deadline-driven environment
  • Effective team play with an enthusiastic with a 'can do' approach for all aspects of their work
  • Ability to work independently to execute on projects while taking direction from multiple managers in a timely manner
  • Commitment to maintaining the firm's high standards related to risk, compliance and its Code of Conduct

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills :

  • Bachelor's in Communications, Public Relations or Journalism
  • Experience supporting banking or financial services companies
  • Energetic, collaborative and a culture-carrier
  • Confident and comfortable in managing projects across multiple lines of business
  • Ability to maintain and strive for high standards
