As a Controls Vice President in our Finance team, you will spend each day defining, refining, and delivering set goals for our firm.
You will be part of the Risk Identification Team within Markets Business Controls Management (BCM), working closely with business-aligned BCMs and senior Business and Functional Managers. Your role will involve helping the Business understand and manage operational risk. You will lead the Markets team for CORE (Compliance and Operational Risk Evaluation), the firm's strategic operational risk and control assessment framework.
Job Responsibilities :
- Apply key business objectives appropriately to all business activities. Lead personnel within the functional team covering Markets CORE Data Capture, Risk & Control Reporting, and Quality Assurance.
- Delegate tasks responsibly, manage performance effectively, and motivate the team efficiently. Own escalated issues, ensure appropriate and timely resolution, and mitigate future occurrences.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to improve interactions and processes, reducing queries. Manage resources to ensure tasks and duties are delegated appropriately, maintaining high service levels.
- Cross-train team members within Markets tasks or activities to sustain stakeholder support.
- Ensure effective quality assurance and integrity within the team.
- Maintain high standards and consistency of work within the internal team and with stakeholders. Provide timely, consistent, and accurate reporting of team activities, ensuring data is useful and accurate.
- Initiate extra activities and management interventions to address process gaps or issues.
- Build strong working relationships with BCMs/BMs to improve outcomes. Act as the point person for Business Control Managers for issue escalation, problem, and query management.
- Ensure strong knowledge of LOB supported with a deep understanding of business areas, functions, and activities.
- Identify stakeholders and meet their communication and engagement requirements. Support and present to the CIB Management and Working Group as required.
- Involve in other key global, strategic initiatives as directed.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills :
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
- Strong staff management skills with the experience to lead a global XLOB team
- Confident and effective communication skills both orally and in writing and with the ability to adapt style to suit the audience.
- Creative and innovative problem solver, with the ability to independently assess a wide variety of tasks
- Effective listening skills with ability to identify people's issues quickly
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and stakeholders demonstrated through strong organizational skills
- Effective leadership skills with the ability to command respect and create a sense of community amongst team members
- Adaptable in working style and comfortable working within ever changing environment
- Can think and act in pressured and time sensitive situations. Strong interpersonal skills allowing effective working relationships to be built with team members, Control managers, Business managers etc.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills :
- 10+ years of financial service experience in controls, audit, quality assurance, risk management, or compliance preferred.
- Strong presentation skills including generating presentations and effectively communicating to senior management
- Comprehensive understanding of Risk and Controls
- Knowledge of CIB products (Markets, Banking, Securities Services) - preferable
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
